“It looked like a stump never existed in that spot!”
He was very communicative, updated me throughout the job, and made sure all debris/mess was cleaned before leaving.

My experience with Stumpocalypse has been fantastic! I was in a situation where I needed a stump removed quickly due to safety reasons, and Alan was incredibly responsive, timely, and thorough with helping figure out what I needed done. My [tree] was removed from my electric company, and they didn’t complete the job by grinding the stump. Alan took care of my surrounding lawn and fence while removing the stump, and once he was done it looked like a stump never existed in that spot! He was very communicative, updated me throughout the job, and made sure all debris/mess was cleaned before leaving. I highly recommend Stumpocalypse! It went like a family member was taking care of the project I needed done with great care!
Communication was super-fast and clear, pricing was transparent (no surprises), and they had my stump out in no time.

From Stump to Level Ground
One real Metro Detroit job, sped up so you don't have to stand in the yard and watch.
The short version. A stump grinder takes a tree stump down below grade, the debris is raked and cleaned up, and the lawn is left ready to repair. Before and after, start to finish, in 18 seconds.
- Stump ground below grade
- Chips raked and cleaned up
- Nothing left sticking out of the lawn
The unedited version. This is the stump grinding job as it was filmed, sped up, with no music and no captions. Watch the grinder work across the stump while the wood chips build up, until the stump is gone.

This Stump Grew Completely Around a Steel Fence
Decades of growth had swallowed an entire fence line, posts and top rail buried dead center in the trunk.
The fence line ran straight through the trunk. Steel posts, woven wire fencing, and a heavy top rail were fully embedded after years of the tree growing around them.
Steel cut out section by section, stump ground below grade, and the site left clean. If your stump has a complication like this, it is exactly the kind of job we take.
Decades of growth had swallowed an entire fence line — posts and top rail buried dead center in the trunk, and not flimsy hardware either: this was 40 year old steel fencing, made to last. Grinder teeth and steel do not mix, so this one took surgery. We cut the overgrown stump down to rail height with a chainsaw, torched through the top rail, then ground carefully into the center, clipping the woven steel fencing piece by piece as the grinder exposed it. Slow, methodical, done right — no shortcuts and no trace left behind.

A 42 Inch Stump in a Clawson Front Lawn, Put Back Like It Was Never There
Ground below grade, eleven bags of chips hauled off, graded flat, topsoil, seed and straw.
Forty two inches across, sitting in the middle of the front lawn. Utilities located and flagged before anything started, which is how every job begins.
The SC70TX works the cutting wheel side to side, taking the stump and the surface roots down well below grade so nothing is left to settle or sprout.
Every wood chip hauled off site, eleven bags of it, then the low spot filled with screened topsoil and graded flat with the rest of the lawn.
Seeded and covered with straw to hold moisture and protect it while it takes. A few weeks of watering and the lawn closes over it completely.
This one sat dead center in the front yard, 42 inches across at the base, right where everybody driving past could see it. The homeowner did not want a patch of wood chips left behind and did not want to finish the job themselves. So we took it all the way. Utilities located and flagged first, then the stump ground below grade. Every chip was hauled off the property, filling eleven yard waste bags. Then the crater was graded flat with the surrounding lawn, covered with fresh screened topsoil, seeded, and blanketed in straw to hold moisture and keep the birds off while it comes in.

This Stump Had No Way In, So We Went Through the Neighbors
Two neighbors, two fence panels off, one route in, and a bees nest to deal with first.
Buried in growth, jammed into the corner where the shed meets the fence. No clearance on any side and no way to reach it from the homeowner’s own yard.
Two neighbors, two fence panels off, one route in. Coordinating access across property lines is part of the job when there is no other way to reach the stump.
Stump gone, chips raked out and spread around the shed, fence panels reset. The corner went from unusable to clean.
Tucked in the back corner behind a shed, pinned tight against a privacy fence, and completely unreachable from anywhere on the homeowner’s own property. There was no gate wide enough and no path around. So we solved it from the outside: we got permission from two neighboring homeowners, took down a privacy fence panel on each of the two property lines, and brought the grinder in across their yards. The stump also had an active bees nest in it, which had to be handled and cleared before anyone could safely work on it. From the last point the machine could reach, every hand tool went in on foot across a long back yard. Stump ground out, chips raked up and spread around the shed, and both fence panels put back the way we found them.

Ringed by Concrete on Every Side, in Royal Oak
Three stumps tight to the house and garage, the worst one in a cutout in the middle of a concrete patio.
Sitting in a round opening in the patio with slab on every side. Zero clearance to work with and concrete to answer for if the wheel wandered.
Ground below grade inside the opening, chips settled back into the cutout, and not a mark on the surrounding concrete.
Same patio, same opening. The tight ones are the jobs worth having the right machine and a steady hand for.
This Royal Oak homeowner had three stumps on the property and every one of them was tight against something that could not be damaged: the house, the garage, or a structure. The worst of the three sat in a round cutout in the middle of a concrete patio, with slab on all sides and only the width of the cutout to work in. There was no room to swing wide and no margin for a mistake, because anything the wheel touched outside the opening was concrete we would be paying to replace. The patio also sat a couple of inches proud of the grade, so boards and plywood went down to walk the machine up over the lip without chipping the edge. From there it was slow, deliberate grinding, taking it down below grade inside the opening and leaving the chips to settle back into the cutout.
