This Stump Grew Completely Around a Steel Fence
Decades of growth had swallowed an entire fence line — posts and top rail buried dead center in the trunk, and not flimsy hardware either: this was 40 year old steel fencing, made to last. Grinder teeth and steel do not mix, so this one took surgery. We cut the overgrown stump down to rail height with a chainsaw, torched through the top rail, then ground carefully into the center, clipping the woven steel fencing piece by piece as the grinder exposed it.
